Feldbinder launches titanium tank cars on the market.

With the BTAN 57, Feldbinder proves that it is worth taking risks. The first four-axle titanium tank car impresses in every aspect. It offers 30 percent more transport capacity due to its 40 percent lower weight compared to existing enamel-coated cars, which improves the environmental balance and simultaneously reduces logistics costs. The challenge of adding a titanium railcar to the portfolio aligns with Feldbinder's pursuit of technological leadership.

On behalf of the customer On Rail, Feldbinder designed a weight-optimized tank car of the Zacens type with a 57 m³ container for transporting molten monochloroacetic acid (MCA). This raw material is used in a variety of products, such as cola beverages, pesticides, dyes, and pharmaceuticals. Since March, the first BTAN 57.4-1 RID units have successfully passed practical tests at the chemical producer CABB. By the end of the year, all 15 ordered tank cars are expected to be in operation.

The fourth titanium tank car will be presented at the Transport Logistic Trade Fair in Munich from June 3-7, 2019.
