Feldbinder – Tradition and innovation since 1975

From the beginnings to market leadership in special vehicle construction

Since our foundation in 1975, we have continued to develop and are now one of Europe's leading manufacturers of special vehicles.

What began as a small family business has developed into a global player in commercial vehicle construction.

Our history is characterized by a spirit of innovation, technical excellence and a deep understanding of our customers' needs.

From the first silo and tank vehicles to modern, customized solutions for the transport of bulk and liquid goods - Feldbinder has always pursued the goal of developing the lightest and most durable vehicles in the industry. In doing so, we remain true to our roots: as a family business, we continue to focus on the highest quality and long-term partnerships. Our history is not only a success story, but also a promise to our customers and employees to actively shape the future of the transportation industry.

Drage | 1975

It all began in 1975, when Otto Feldbinder, a trained lathe operator, founded the company to manufacture silo superstructures together with mechanical engineer Jan-Dirk Beckmann. While one of them was selling silo vehicles at the time, the other was gaining experience as an employee of a silo and tanker haulage company.

Suppliers and users combined their knowledge and laid the foundations for their own company, which started with three employees in Drage, Lower Saxony, just outside Hamburg.

After five years, the company was bursting at the seams following an interim move to Hamburg Hamm. At the time, FFB had an annual output of around 120 units.

Winsen (Luhe) | 1980

In 1980, the successful duo found a four-hectare site in Winsen (Luhe), which has since been more than doubled in size and is still the headquarters of Feldbinder Spezialfahrzeugwerke GmbH.

Germany | 1990

In 1990, service stations were established in Germany under the name STA Silo- und Tankanhänger Service GmbH. All makes of (tipper), silo and tank vehicles as well as special silo and tank containers are repaired here.

Lutherstadt Wittenberg | 1991

In September 1991, the two partners acquired the company ACA, Apparate- und Chemieanlagenbau Wittenberg GmbH, in Lutherstadt Wittenberg.

This plant had been manufacturing stainless steel and aluminum pressure vessels for the chemical industry and railroads for over 60 years. With the acquisition of this manufacturing plant with 120,000 m² of industrial space and 15,000 m² of covered cantilevered halls, the product range was expanded to include tankers.

Winsen (Luhe) | 1992

At the beginning of 1992, the expansion of the main plant in Winsen began with the construction of a modern repair and service station and a functional office building as the headquarters of the company group.

Europe | 1996

Since the 1990s, Feldbinder has continuously expanded its commitment in Europe. The expansion of the international sales and service network began in 1996 with the takeover of various companies and the founding of its own subsidiaries.

England | 1997

In addition to their own sales companies in the Czech Republic and the Netherlands, Otto Feldbinder and Jan-Dirk Beckmann acquired the silo vehicle manufacturer Metalair-Filliat in England in 1997, now Feldbinder UK Ltd. with its two sites in Sutton Bridge and Middlewich.

Lutherstadt Wittenberg | 2000

In mid-2000, the modern East Repair Department was set up in Wittenberg and the production of silo wagons began. Further halls for tank and wagon construction were put into operation shortly afterwards.

In order to operate even more flexibly on the market with ever shorter delivery times, a further hall was set up with tank bottom production facilities for aluminum and stainless steel bottoms up to a diameter of 4000 mm. Attached is a floor grinding shop for the highest tank interior requirements.

Winsen (Luhe) | 2000

The expansion of container production in Winsen began in 2000.

Today, a total of 28,000 m² of overcrane production facilities are available for the manufacture of state-of-the-art tankers and silo vehicles in Wittenberg.

Winsen (Luhe) | 2006

France | 2010

Due to the economic situation in France, the repair business was shut down in 2010. The sale of new vehicles and spare parts remained unaffected.

2011

Since the end of 2011, the service and after-sales business has been concentrated solely on the site in Sutton Bridge, which has been extensively modernized. As a result, Feldbinder is once again producing exclusively at the two German sites.

The foundation stone for successful sales on the Iberian Peninsula was laid with the establishment of Feldbinder Iberica S.L. At the same time, the owners acquired a repair and sales company for silo and tank vehicles as well as special containers (formerly FILLIAT) near Lyon in France. This company now operates under the name Feldbinder France SARL. Our products and spare parts for the French market are distributed from there.

France | August 2012

In August 2012, the company moved to an office with a spare parts warehouse in the immediate vicinity of the former company premises in Venissieux.

South America | 2014
